CENTAURS (2017/2020) is part of a world-building project I developed for my MFA thesis. Each centaur moves according to its own unique pattern, driven by frequency-modulated sine waves. When they encounter each other, they can either mate and form colonies or battle for territory. Some become queens, continuously spawning more centaurs.

They eat… and fertilize the soil. Food grows. If they go too long without eating, they die—their corpses also fertilizing the land. The challenge was creating an ecosystem that remained balanced: never growing too large, but also unlikely to collapse entirely.

In later versions, they had "dreams"—sentences procedurally generated from large word lists, structured through custom syntax rules. They told stories based on these dreams, passing ideas between generations. Everything was tracked: their names, their actions, their lifetimes. These records were then converted into text and printed in a book.

Unfortunately, the laptop I developed it on was stolen. The files were never backed up—lost forever.

In 2020, I rebuilt the fundamentals. What you see now is that recreation.
